Caring for Human‑Hair Wigs & Extensions

Investing in quality wigs or extensions is like investing in a treasured accessory—it needs regular care to stay beautiful. Here are simple guidelines to help your clients keep their strands looking salon-fresh:

- **Handle gently & detangle first**: Before washing, use a wide-tooth comb to detangle the hair without pulling on the wefts. Always start at the ends and work your way up to avoid stress on the bonds.
- **Wash on a schedule**: Natural human-hair wigs should be washed every 7–10 wears; synthetic wigs once a month. Hold the wig over a sink, wet it with lukewarm water, and use wig-specific shampoo and conditioner.
- **Condition from mid-lengths to ends**: Apply conditioner sparingly, focusing on the mid-shaft and ends. Too much product at the roots can loosen the attachment points.
- **Dry with care**: Let the wig air dry on a stand whenever possible. If using a blow dryer, choose a low-heat setting and always apply a heat protectant.
- **Hydrate & protect**: Human-hair extensions don’t receive scalp oils, so keep them moisturized with sulfate-free leave-in conditioners or lightweight oils. Limit heat styling and never sleep on wet hair—braid extensions and use a silk pillowcase to reduce tangles.

A clear care routine not only extends the life of wigs and extensions but also builds trust with your clients.
